When we got off the train, it was raining. But these
continual rains didn't indispose fans at all. At 3 PM, at
the Boguslawa street, when Steve Morse entered the scene,
many people and about 20 guitar players were waiting for
him. Unfortunately, we couldn't see Steve too well because
of that magnolia blocking the view. He planted it later
for the Szczecin people, with a little help of the rest of
Deep Purple. The happening was too short in my opinion,
but awesome. There are many talented people in this town!
The main gig at the Athletics Stadium started at 9
PM. There were many Polish and German fans. As soon as the
band entered the stage, they got crazy, the more so as
Deep Purple were in Szczecin for the first time. We all
were delirious with joy from the first song ("Silver
Tongue") to the last one. All the audience sang with
the band!
It was very nice to hear "Woman from Tokyo" and
"When a Blind Man Cries" again, but we wish we
could listen to more songs from their latest record. We
like "Walk on" and "Sun Goes Down" so
much... and they played only "Silver Tongue",
"Contact Lost", "Bananas" and "I
Got Your Number". Lots of their greatest hits were
played as well, first of all "Perfect Strangers"
which is the hit of the 20th century in my opinion.
The musicians did their best. Ian's voice and condition
was perfect. I've never seen so many karate kicks so
far!
We also sang for Ian Paice. But I think he couldn't
understand our "Sto lat":))). Never
mind. Intentions enter into account, don't they?
We only regret that we couldn't be at his birthday cake
after show. We had to go to Warsaw for the next gig. But
in general, the Szczecin show was unusual!
