Review from DP show in Szczecin (Poland)
Everything started, when in April we came into contact
with the promoter and started to help him in organization
this show. For example: we've sent the informations about
this concert to the European DP fan clubs and told him
about Ian Paice's birthday. We had a idea to give Ian a
complement of the drum sticks as a birthday gift. The
promoter agreed, so we ordered in the name of DP Fan-Club
Poland and the promoter the drum sticks with a specially
engraved inscriptions. We ordered one complement, but the
drum sticks' producer, Mr. Zbigniew Gladek made for Ian
Paice 15 complements, which were pack in a special bag for
professional drummers( with inscriptions, too). We gave
them the promoter on Monday(28th of June), before a press
conference.
First time, we met Ian Gillan, Steve Morse and Roger
Glover in a hotel, the day before the concert, on Sunday
and gave them a little gift from us and our friend from DP
Fan-Club Poland, Artur Nowosielski, who came from Warsaw
to see DP show in Szczecin. We took a few photos with Ian,
Steve and Roger, and took the backstage passes, about we
asked some time before.
On Monday afternoon was a press conference, where we were,
too and took all group many photos. After the press
conference, all group went to the hospital and visited
children, which have a neoplasm. Next, Steve Morse played
a short concert with the guitarists from Szczecin at the
Boguslawa Promenade. They played "Smoke On The
Water" and later all group planted a magnolia little
tree for a keepsake of their visit in Szczecin, as is
customary, when our town visiting somebody famous.
On the Monday evening, at 9pm, they started to play a
concert. It was a really great show!!! We had a very good
time and we saw that the group, too. We don't know, how
many people came at this concert, but Polish TV said about
10 thousands people.
DP played some stuff from "Bananas" and their
greatest hits as "Highway Star", "smoke On
The Water", "When The Blind Man Cries",
etc. Fans, as usually in Poland, sang with them almost all
songs. It was great, heard again, as thousands fans sang
together with the group. Ian Gillan was in very good
vocal's form, sang a few times with the Steve's guitar. We
saw first time, as "Papa G" dancing on stage. It
was very fun Steve Morse, as usually with a nice smile on
his face, played unbelievable guitar solos. In our
opinion, Steve is a great guitarist and we've never missed
for Ritchie Blackmore's playing. What we could to say
about Roger Glover playing. He was uncommon!!! He always
was one of the bass guitar masters, and he still is. And
Paicey - he played as in the old, happy days!!!
Magnificent!!!
After the show, we were at the small Ian Paice's birthday
party, so we had a possibility to express him our bithday
wishes. He received the drum sticks, about which we wrote
before. There was a big birthday layer cake, too. And
again, we've taken the photos. It was a great event for
us.
Unfortunatelly, we didn't meet anybody from Aviator, but
frankly speaking, we had no time looking for
them. Even. we had no time to eat something during all
Monday, except hot-dogs about 7pm (on the run)
Kind regards from Szczecin
for all Aviators and all DP
