Nice support. SBB (Search, Break and Build) was unbelievable as usual. We
listened to the band with pleasure really. Our best progressive rockers
are always at their best. Nice scenery as well. No film, but we saw the
"Rapture" CD cover behind the stage. Eleven thin flickering multicoloured
columns were intriguing.
The beginning of the show was also nice. And amusing. Ian Gillan raced
into the stage, ran up to the fans, but suddenly jumped back. Somebody may
have given him a fright:). Then he came back and gave a five to everyone
who reached his hand. He must have liked us. "You're fantastic", "We love
you", "Superb", we heard those words many times. How kind of him.
Nice vocals, too. Mr Gillan sang much better than in Katowice this
year. He was in high spirits and great condition. During "Fireball" he
screamed like he did in the old days. Awesome indeed. Nice performance in
general. The band was in top form. No dissonances, no play off key. We
were glad to see Don Airey and Steve Morse to wave their hands to us. How
did they manage to recognize us??? We were sitting so far from them.
As for the setlist, it wasn't very interesting, but OK. The band added
"Wrong Man"to it, a song which I like very much. I only missed "Wasted
Sunsets". I wish Mr Gillan sang it in Warsaw as well, not only during his
"Gillan's Inn" tour. I also wish the band stoppedplaying "Hush" as an
encore and chose another song.
We managed to meet four musicians after the show. It was nice to get
autographs again and to take pictures (of course!:)). The artists were
tired, but very friendly. Even Ian Paice came to see us. He must have been
in a good mood because he didn't do a bunk:). What's more, he seemed to
recognize me. As for Ian Gillan, he was a bit absent as usual, but still
in high spirits and well-disposed. So was Don Airey. Steve Morse, though
exhausted, was very kind, too. I only wish we met Roger Glover. He came to
see the fans, yes, but he escaped soon.
As you see, everything was nice that night. We both had a great
time. Thanks a lot, dear Purple, and please visit us again.
